The perfect place to unwind with friends and family
As the Nuwekloof pass opens up into the Tulbagh valley, you find yourself on Oude Tol farm. It stretches from the top of the mountain ridge at the one side right down across the river, the old historic toll road, and the railway line, along which the former Transkaroo – now the Shosholoza Meyl – runs up to the North. Here are the pastures where our cattle and sheep are grazing, and where we raise free-range chickens.

Self-Catering
The kitchen is equipped with a stove, fridge and microwave oven, crockery and pots as well as all basic kitchen utensils. Tea and coffee for the early morning cup are supplied. (Breakfast can be arranged if required, but should be requested when making the booking.)
Pet Friendly
Your four-legged family members need not stay at home, but it should be arranged before that they will be coming along. Please bring your own bowls and bedding and do not allow them on the furniture. *Bougainvillea Cottage only
Close to Nature
Each cottage is close to forest and mountain fynbos, with the sounds of birds settling for the night or waking early mornings. A starry sky can be admired on summer nights.
Hiking
We laid out a hiking trail to a train watching spot called Choo-choo-vista. From there the hiking trail continues to the top of the mountain with a vast view of the Berg River valley on the one side and the Breede River valley on the other.
Swimming
A cement farm dam near the houses is ready for cooling off after a hot day out. (It is fenced in to prevent accidents with children.)
Bird Watching
Bluegum forests, grazing fields, and mountain vegetation offer a varied habitat for many bird species. From eagles above to pheasants below, there are countless bird species inhabiting the fynbos.
